This book aims to be a journalistic profile that seeks to show how the man who became a dictator in Nicaragua was shaped—his lights and his shadows. My intention is to place the lens within the most personal, intimate lives of its protagonists in order to tell this important part of Nicaragua’s history.Daniel Ortega was a Boy Scout, an altar boy, at one point intended to become a priest, was rebellious, burned vehicles, threw stones at houses and people, robbed and killed, was imprisoned, lived in exile, was a guerrilla fighter, coordinated the Government Junta, has been a candidate in seven electoral campaigns, a caudillo, a four-time president and, ultimately, a dictator equal to or worse than the one he once helped overthrow in the name of revolutionary ideals.
